The Acute Services Building (ASB) - Christchurch Hospital, is the largest government project in the Canterbury rebuild.
The $463 million building will be 62,000 square meters in size and is being constructed to Importance Level 4 (IL4), ensuring it will be a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
Scheduled to open in 2018, it will house:
- 12 new operating theatres and procedure rooms
- An expanded Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- State of the art radiology department
- Acute medical assessment
- An expanded emergency department
- A rooftop helipad
The new theatres will allow the Canterbury District Health Board to perform an additional 6,000 surgeries a year and inpatient ward blocks over 6 floors will provide approximately 400 beds, including purpose designed spaces for children.
Bremca is proud to be supplying the switchboards for this project utilising it's xEnergy board system coupled with Schneider switchgear.
