THE NEW CHRISTCHURCH HOSPITAL – ACUTE SERVICES BUILDING (ASB), IS TO DATE, THE LARGEST GOVERNMENT PROJECT IN THE CANTERBURY REBUILD
The new $500 million building is 62,000 square meters in size and is being constructed to an Importance Level 4 (IL4) seismic rating, ensuring it will be a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
Opened in 2018, the new facility includes:
- 12 new operating theatres and procedure rooms
- An expanded Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- State of the art radiology department
- Acute medical assessment
- An expanded emergency department
- A rooftop helipad
The new theatres will allow the Canterbury District Health Board to perform an additional 6,000 surgeries a year and inpatient ward blocks over 6 floors will provide approximately 400 beds, including purpose designed spaces for children.
Bremca is proud to have been the supplier of the switchboards for this project utilising a 61439 compliant and seismically rated solution, coupled with Schneider switchgear.
