Our Environmental Policy

Bremca is committed to the continuous improvement of our environmental performance, as part of our overall goal of implementing the principles of sustainable development in all areas of our work.

Accountability will be with the senior management team for our environmental performance and the implementation of this policy. All staff within the Bremca Group have a responsibility to ensure that the aims and objectives of the policy are met.

We aim to ensure that environmental objectives are sustainably integrated into our relevant business objectives. Bremca Group is dedicated to minimising the environmental impact of our operations and will achieve this through our commitment to:

  • Comply with all relevant legislation, consents and regulations.
  • Improve the efficiency of our utilisation of resources (including our use of raw materials, energy and water).
  • Regularly review the impact of our activities, attempt to reduce our overall environmental impact and prevent waste by using best practice techniques.
  • Involve employees and provide necessary training in our environmental programme to enable them to discharge their responsibilities.
  • Continually improve our environmental performance, incorporating suitable measurement, and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Encourage the development of environmental best practice with our key suppliers.

Bremca will achieve these commitments by:

  • Considering both materials and methods examining the entire product lifecycle from commercial and ecological points of view.
  • This includes adhesion to environmentally oriented procedures and processes within the company and providing regular information about environmentally specific aspects of our products concerning the handling, use, returns, recycling, and disposal.
  • Working with our suppliers and contractors to encourage the implementation of environmentally responsible practices in line with Bremca RoHS and Reach certification and Procurement policy.
  • Recognising that all our activities and operations impact on the environment and that we must manage and minimise these impacts.
  • Ensuring full compliance with relevant environmental and energy legislation, contractual obligations and industry codes of practice.
  • Ensuring staff comprehend the requirements of environmental legislation, guidelines and codes of practice applicable to the organisation.

ISO 14001 - Environment

In 2023 Bremca achieved Telarc certification for ISO 14001 – Health and Safety Management Systems. A first for switchboard manufacturers in New Zealand.

RoHS Compliant Switchboard Solutions

The Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) was adopted in 2003 by the EU for the management and reduction of hazardous substances used in the manufacturing of electronic and electrical equipment.

BREMCA was the first New Zealand switchboard manufacturer to offer RoHS compliant switchboard solutions in response to increasing market demand for sustainable solutions, and our own commitment to the environment and sustainability.
